Material Lineages offers brief notes on some of the folk visual systems that inform my practice. These references are not intended as explanations of the work, but as optional points of entry for those interested in the histories and logics behind certain materials and forms.
Tanvi Swapnil Shaha is a Brooklyn-based multimedia artist working across sculpture, installation, ceramics, glass, and textile-based processes. She draws from Indian folk traditions such as Bandhani and Ajrakh to build installations that translate repetition, tying, and rhythm into spatial form. She is currently an MFA Sculpture candidate at Pratt Institute (2024–2026).
